Agile Portfolio Management
This book is primarily targeting project managers, portfolio managers, business analysts, members of the PMO, and executive managers who are interested in adopting agile practices and portfolio management. I hope it will give exactly this audience an easily digestible introduction to this topic with enough material to sponsor agility across the entire enterprise.
Although this book is not intended primarily for technical audiences, it may help them appreciate the motivations and involvement of the project external factors in their enterprise.
The book is divided into three parts. The first part gives a basic introduction to the motivations of using agile development practices from a manager's perspective. The second part presents practices and techniques for project, asset and resource portfolios in an agile environment. The third part focuses on a new role of the project management office and how Scrum can be applied to run the portfolio process.
IBM Rational Unified Process - Reference and Certification Guide
The overall audience for the book is those who are interested in RUP certification. But the two segments of this book target different subaudiences. The reference segment, which serves as the latest collection of RUP content and tooling, is useful to process engineers, project managers, and members of the program management office. In addition, each of the discipline chapters provide value to many different roles participating in the software engineering effort - business analysts, testers, programmers and architects. The part on business-driven development will provide motivation for line managers and senior management who consider adopting RUP. The last part of the book (certification) will be useful for all RUP experts who are interested in achieving the new certification, but it also provides details for decision makers who are interested in including this certification in their culture. The book will prepare readers for the cerfification "839 - IBM Certified Solution Designer - IBM Rational Unified Process V.7.0"
Released at the end of 2007, the RUP Reference and Certification Guide became quickly the #1 best-selling IBM certification book based on Amazon.com's sales ranking. Please send me your feedback, experiences and comments before or after taking the exam. Thank you.
